Why We Built This

We created Games Played Well because star ratings and marketing descriptions don't tell parents what actually matters. This app was built by a parent and developer who wanted a consistent, honest standard instead of guessing. Our goal is to provide a real read on a game before a kid plays it, not a sales pitch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a high score mean I should let my kid play this?

No. A high score on our rubric is a technical evaluation of the game's educational and design quality. It does not replace the need to check the age category and content warnings. Always review the specific content warnings before allowing a child to play.

Is my data collected by the app?

No. The app is designed to run entirely on your device. We do not require an account, login, or tracking. Your privacy is protected by design, ensuring that your data stays private and secure.

When is it launching and what platforms?

The app is currently in development. We are launching first on Android. We will keep our community updated via email signup for the earliest access and official launch announcements.

What does the rubric actually measure?

We use a six-part rubric to evaluate every game. It covers Learning Integration, Engagement Without Manipulation, Difficulty & Feedback Quality, Transfer Potential, Monetization & Data Practices, and Social/Emotional Fit. This ensures a consistent, honest standard for parents.

Are there any age categories or warnings?

Yes. Every game is tagged K-5, 6-8, or 9-12. Content warnings for violence, mature themes, and safety issues are always displayed prominently and are never hidden behind a high score.
